Otis came to Manchester in
1966 appearing at the Odeon Cinema (on Oxford Rd, just up the street from
the Palace). This show was billed as "The Otis Redding Band Show" and
featured a local group: the St Louis Union and also the Alan Price Set. Mel
Owen remembers and said that "in many respects this performance was his
better show. I remember Otis singing 'wearing that same old SHABBY dress'
rather than 'shaggy dress' cos he was told previously about the original
wording being too rude. How do I know all this ~ because I've still got the
programme for the first tour and also had this confirmed by Otis' widow Mrs
Redding when I contacted her on the official Otis Redding website."

Here is the original program from the show,
Thanks to Mel Owen.
