USA Brunswick 55301 - Hope we have - I’m gonna miss you U.K. MCA MU 1117 1966 That wailing wobble falseto voice of Marvin Smith: agh – ah – aaarrrr, I’m Gonna’ miss you and soon as Marving got going so did the dancers. These blokes used to be backing singers on several of Major Lances records i.e. ‘Rhythm’ and ‘The Monkey Time.’ 1966 and ‘I'm Gonna Miss You’ was a record well known as a ‘floor filler.’ As a DJ you would always want to play it sometime in the session you were doing, but it was one to keep up your sleeve, so to speak, keeping it in readiness just in case the dace floor became deserted, popping a track such as this was guaranteed to get everyone back up dancing. It especially seemed to a peal to the ladies, and that also enticed the blokes back to their dancing duties. Its another interesting fact that the song was actually released as a ‘B’ side A fine song only just eclipsing the desired ‘A’ side which is also a great Soul record – ‘Keep on pushing baby don’t look back’. Great value for money at 6 shillings and eight pence! And that was in ‘real money’. To play both records back to back we had to buy two copies of the record, and that was both the DJ Dave’s at the Blue Note but even doubling up like this had no impact upon the records success as it sunk below the horizon of the top U.K. 100.
