1966 The first UK LP of Sam and Dave showed our favourite Stax soul duet ridding on top of a great big green tortoise; so if you were holding on for their arrival it would be a long time. But in fact they did arrive in Manchester on the Stax show at the Palace theatre in 1967. Sam and Dave did their famous string of recordings at Stax but were in fact artists signed to the Atlantic Label. Their first hit on the Soul scene was Stax 180 - You Don't Know Like I Know 1965 Stax 189 - Hold On! I'm A Comin' was in 66
