Earthquake
by Bobbi Lynn
011
1967 Re- released a year after this Stateside 45 on the U.K.Bell label:BL1168.Originaly on the small independent ELF label in the USA and making a distribution deal with Bell records to gain greater coverage and a new pressing “Earthquake” did not erupt on the USA chart and was soon a collectors item on the Stateside Label in the U.K.Clifford Curry also recorded for Elf. The ‘B’ side was “Opportunity Street” apart from this there is very little more to say as information about this artist is very scarce. Bobbi certainly has that Southern States (white) country singer style drawl, a brilliant instantly recognisable intro by a bouncing piano and bass and we’re off into the ‘Earthquake’. There where two other records on our scene with the same title: “Earthquake” by Al TNT Braggs and another by the Fab Mr Buster (The Prince). In 1966 and 67’ we had white country singers doin’ Soul e.g Charlie Rich and Ronnie Millsap so why not a lady.
