Cleo's Mood
by Junior Walker
Cleo’s Mood Junior Walker And The All-Stars first released this track when they were signed to the ‘HARVEY’ record label in Detroit Michigan USA. The label was started and owned by Harvey Fuqua and later re-released on SOUL records in 1962 in the USA and in February 1966 on Tamla Motown UK. Harvey was the lead singer in the Moonglows and married one of Berry Gordy’s sisters, eventually joining his record label to his brother –in laws (Tamla/Motown) The instrumental track from Junior (Mr Autry DeWalt was in fact a follow up to ‘ Cleo’s Gone’. This great instrumental is not listed in our Top 500 – as Junior is adequately covered by his other listed tracks as evidence of his contribution to Soul music. He appeared in Manchester several times in the late 1960’s at the Twisted Wheel. And his first appearance – Saturday 14th October 1967 - at the ‘Wheel’ features as a significant event in the book: The Manchester Wheelers.
