U.K. ISLAND wi-286 USA Nola 721 1966 In 1966 this got people up if they weren’t already dancing, many in the Manchester Soul clubs followed Roberts instructions and ‘ kicked off their shoes and danced barefoot to a dance that couldn’t be beat : they were Barfootin’. The record got to No 7 in the USA as by 1966 Soul music was becoming a popular music genre. The DJ often turned the vinyl over and the ‘B’ side became just as popular at the ‘Wheel: Lets Go Baby (where The Action Is) Robert was from New Orleans and had worked with both with Professor Longhair, and Huey Piano Smith, before joining NOLA Records and working with Wardell Quezerque, Parker who produced his recordings. He appeared live in the UK in 66 at London’s Tiles Club and at the Twisted Wheel.
