Ain’t No Sun - The Dynamics COTILLION Records USA Gladys Knight & the Pips, and Chuck Jackson recorded this song, as did the Temptations, it was a track on their – The Temptations With A Lot Of Soul LP. ‘Ain’t No Sun (Since You’ve Been Gone) was obtained by the (Manchester) Blue Note DJ from a postal auction list. It had been deleted in the USA – distinguished as a warehouse return by the punch hole in the disc. The recording was more upbeat than the Temps version it rocked, and was a sure fire winner to load up the dancefloor at the Blue Note were they had at that time the only copy in the city – consequently it was never played at the Twisted Wheel. It was, as Joe Tex might say – as rare as hen’s teeth! Or as ‘rare as Rocking Horse Shit’ as one of the DJ’s at the club phrased it!
