Memphis Slim
Roger Fairhurst was the D.J. a pal of Roger Eagle’s and it was Roger F who was the D. J. for the All-nighter at the Brazennose Street Twisted Wheel the night that Memphis Slim appeared. It was a two artist show first Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames then on came Slim and they backed him. One number he performed was ‘One Mans Mad’ a track that the two Rogers at the Wheel; had made popular before ‘Slim’ appeared. It was from the LP The World Foremost Blues Singer by Memphis Slim A SUMIT RECORDING: ATL 4115 How do we know… we were there and we also bought the LP from Barry’s Record Rendezvous on Blackfriers Street Manchester. Memphis Slim was a great ‘boogie woogie’ pianist and song writer, many of his songs told stories and some were funny. One popular track that he recorded on the LP shown here was ‘One Mans Mad’. The Twisted Wheel D.J. was well into the blues and played this track quite often. Quite a rare vinyl item these days. ATL 4115: Mono SUMMIT RECORDS Side One: 2. Lonesome; 2. Cold-blooded Woman; 3.
